Summer Vacay Weeks 2 and 3

Beach sand, perfect tans. Day walks, night talks. Sleepless nights, pillow fights. & spending every day with those who matter most. ~ Anonymous.

These weeks are passing by way too quickly.  Before long, it will be August 1, which means back to school!  (sigh)  I have got to make the most of these next few summer days!

I finished up a few projects over the last 2 weeks.  One of my "besties" asked me to make some initial signs for her mom to give as gifts.
Lime Green "K"
PRETTY!
This turquoise one turned out so pretty and is probably my favorite of all the initial signs I've made!

My other "BFF" scored me this  "S" at a yard sale a while back.  I painted it and now it adorns our door!  LOVE IT!

Cute, huh?

I also painted a few little birdhouses.  I had a sweet turquoise bird feeder out there too, but alas - it broke.

My plants seem to be thriving under my "green thumb" of care.

I must admit, however, there has been a casualty.
Boo Hoo!

I baked a White Chocolate Chip Pound Cake.  It was super moist and tasted really good.  Collin was not very impressed due to the fact there was no icing.

I guess the biggest news is that we adopted a kitten from the animal shelter.  She's a sweet little calico.  We decided to name her Mia because she will sit and watch soccer games on TV.  (My hubby and Collin are really big into soccer.)  Since Mia Hamm is a famous female soccer player, that's where we got her name.
Love the head tilt!

I have a wonderful volunteer that helps me with Mia.  He never complains about "kitten duty."

I never have to worry about where Mia is because freckles always has his eye on her.

My hubby and the kiddos built Mia a little "playhouse" for her outside.  Right now, she stays inside quite a bit.  She is still so small I don't want her to get out of the yard.  Once she gets a little bigger, I know she will enjoy being able to explore outside on her own a lot more.  My hubby had a great idea for the playhouse, too.  Once Mia outgrows it, we would like to give it to the animal shelter, that is if the shelter has a need for it.

Mia has been a little under the weather since we brought her home and last week we were regulars at our  vet's office.  I think she is feeling better and is a pretty good sport when it comes to taking her medicine.

We decided to have a Father's Day cook-out at our house.  My parents and in-laws joined us.  It was a great time to honor these wonderful men in our lives.  (My brother-in-law and sister were on a mission trip with their family.) I made a "(Sweet) Father's Day Bouquet" to use as a center piece for the table.  I got the idea from a blog that I follow:  www.funkypolkadotgiraffe.blogspot.com  It turned out pretty cute and everyone picked their favorite "sweet" to take home with them.

Well, I guess that about sums it all up!  I sure hope you are enjoying your summer as much as I am!  Happy Monday!
