Last Hoorahs and the Start of Summer!

The last week in May seems like sooo long ago.  It actually went by like a whirlwind.  Thankfully my school year ended on a high note.  We took the kids on a field trip to the Triple N Ranch.  (You can find out more information on the Triple N Ranch on Facebook.) They had a blast!
Enjoying the magician!
A full load on the "hayride"
Riding horses - even the teachers had fun!
My nephew graduated from high school and is headed to MC in the fall!  I read somewhere recently that the days seem to linger but the years fly by.  I surely do agree.  I cannot believe he is all grown up!

The hubby and I have taken two short trips recently.  The first one was to Memphis.  We toured the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art ...

and we attended a FREE outdoor concert at the Levitt Shell.
The concert was great!  There was a huge crowd.  Everyone brings a picnic supper along with their lawn chairs or blankets.  The weather was great and I didn't feel a single mosquito!

Next, we traveled down to the Gulf Coast.  The Hubs had a conference at the Beau Rivage so I went along, too.

We ate dinner one night at the newly opened casino, Margaritaville.  It is very small but full of what every Jimmy Buffet fan likes.
I loved seeing all of these Walter Anderson prints in the lobby.  I have these same ones hanging in my house, too!  That was pretty neat!

I ventured down to the Hard Rock and took a look around!

Steven Tyler

Madonna
Bon Jovi

A great lunch at Mary Mahoney's
We brought back some delicious fresh shrimp!

I met one of my fav people, too:  Paul Gallo from Supertalk Mississippi

Oh, and how could I forget? ... the view form our room!
but, the marina was pretty!

Let's see.  We picked blueberries over the Memorial Day Weekend and I have made a couple of cobblers.
We also cooked some ribs and had our first swim of the season.  We needed that swim after blueberry pickin'!

Well, I sure hope your summer is off to a great start!

Thanks for reading!

Mother's Day

I think this was one of the best Mother's Days that I have ever had.

My oldest son, David, graduated from Ole Miss,(Magna Cum Laude - I might add!), on Saturday.

He will be heading to COTS training for the Air Force in July and entering Medical School in the fall.  Needless to say, I am one proud mama!

The Confirmation Service was held at our church on Sunday.  Each of the seven candidates for confirmation participated in the worship service.  Collin delivered the message.  There's no greater Mother's Day gift than to have your child confirmed on Mother's Day.

...And to top it all off, my parents attended church with us and I was able to spend Mother's Day with my mom!

Oh yeah, and the fact that the kids came through with getting me the necklace that I wanted didn't hurt either!

Hope your Mother's Day was great, too!

The Past Few Months...

I cannot believe I have not blogged since November!  Well, here is what we have been up to the last few months:

We have a new puppy at our house.  His name is Laban and he turned a year old on January 27th.
Laban smiling for the camera!

He's pretty cute, huh?  Laban has learned (Thanks to David, mostly.) how to bring in the paper, sit, lay down, shake, and roll over.  He's also my new walking buddy!  Check out www.choctawlabs.net if you would like a sweet, smart four-legged family member.  A local photographer was offering pet portraits to raise money for our local Humane Society, so we took Laban.  Guess who ended up in the ad?
Yep, there he is front and center!

We have been enjoying some really good food, too! The hubby has mastered the art of homemade pizzas (with dough from scratch I might add) as well as being a grill master!

We celebrated Collin's 13th birthday!

My Christmas present  this year was a Viking Cooking School Class - Cupcakes and Cake Pops!  Yummy and Fun!
We celebrated Valentine's Day and our 16th anniversary at our (my) favorite place Delta Bistro.  We chose to sit at the "Chef's Table."  We got to sit in the kitchen and watch the chefs prepare our food.  They talked with us and chose the dishes for us.  Needless to say, it was absolutely delicious!
In my opinion, this is definitely something that you must try!  Check out their website at www.deltabistro.com.  You will be so glad you did!

We celebrated David's 22nd birthday in Memphis during our annual trip to see the Beale Street St. Patrick's Day Parade.  We started the day at Celtic Crossing and enjoyed some delicious Irish food, beverages and music.
Do you see the leprechaun?

Once again, it was hard to get Collin into the spirit of things.
Then on to the parade.  Beale was packed!  The weather was great and the parade was a lot fun as always!

Last but certainly not least, our sweet Mia ran away.  We are once again a "catless" home.   I have decided to give up on cats for a while.  It's just too hard on you when they're gone.

Well, that's all of the randomness for now.  I hope to post more frequently now that summer is rolling in!
